নিম্নে উল্লেখিত চিঠিটি বাংলা সাহিত্যের বহুল পঠিত
একটি উপন্যাসের নায়িকাকে লেখা প্রপোজাল পত্র। এই
চিঠিটি পড়তে পড়তে মনে হয় কেউ যদি আমাকে এমন
করে একটি চিঠি দিত।
এই উপন্যাসটি আমার বিশ্বাস ব্লগের বেশীরভাগ ব্লগার
পড়েছেন। আমি উপন্যাসটি অনেক বার পড়েছি। প্রতিবার
পড়তে বসেই মনে হয়েছে আগে নায়কের যে বক্তব্য ছিল
তা পড়তে হত। এখন আবারও পড়ছি। পড়তে বসে আবারও
মনে হয়েছে কেন যে এই বইটা আগে নিলাম
বিদেশী লেখকেরটা আগে কেন হাতে নিলাম না।
এই উপন্যাসটি আমার প্রিয় একটি উপন্যাস। এই উপন্যাসের
প্রথন লাইনটি আমার আরও বেশি প্রিয়। কারন আমার
জন্মদিন যে ১লা সেপটেম্বর।
যাই হোক চিঠিটি আমি নিচে তুলে দিচ্ছি। সবার জন্য ধাঁধাঁ।
উপন্যাসটির নাম কি এবং চিঠিটি কাকে লেখা ?
Mademoiselle,
Understanding that you are going to choose a
partner in life I beg to offer myself as a
candidate for the vacancy. As regards my
qualifications I am neither married nor am I a
widower; I am in fact the genuine article—a
bachelor what is more I am a real ripe bachelor,
being one of long standing.
I should in fairness refer also to my
disqualifications. I frankly confess that I am
quite new to the job and I cannot boast of any
previous experience in the line – never having
had occasion before to enter into such
partnership with anyone. This my want to
experience is likely, I am afraid, to be regarded
as a handicap and disqualification. May I point
out, however, that though want of experience is
likely, I am afraid, to be regarded as handicap
and disqualification in other avenues of life, this
particular line is the only one where it is
desirable in every way. A more likely handicap is
the fact that I am an old bachelor with
confirmed bachelor habits. Lest fears be
entertained about my ability to adapt myself to
the new conditions, may I draw your attention to
the fact that I am not such a hopeless case as
Sir P.C. Ray.
For further particulars I beg you to approach
your mother who studied me the other day with
an amount of curiosity and interest that would
have done credit even to an eminent
Egyptologist examining a rare mummy.
In fine permit me to assure you that it will be
my constant endeavour to give you every
satisfaction.

বিখ্যাত লেখিকা মৈত্রী দেবীকে লিখেছিলেন তার স্বামী। বিয়ের আগে। কি রোমান্টিক তাই না। বইটির নাম ” ন’ হন্যতে।”

এটা হল ন’ হন্যতে। বিখ্যাত উপন্যাস। লেখিকা মৈত্রী দেবী। সবাই হাম দিল দে চুকে সনম সিনেমা দেখলাম কিন্তু কোন উপন্যাসের ছায়া অবলম্বনে তা জানলাম না। মৈত্রী র প্রেমিক মির্চা ইলিয়াদের “লা লুই বেঙলী ” বিখ্যাত উপন্যাস।

ইংরেজীতে লিখলে হবে না , আগে বাংলায় লিখে দিন ।
তারপর দেখি কে কাকে কেমন ভাবে কী লিখে কী বলতে চায় ?

না না এ চিঠি আমি কাউকে পাঠাইনি তাই বাংলা করা যাবে না। অনুবাদ করলে পরের সম্পদে হস্তক্ষেপ করা হবে। ছি ছি তাই কি আমি পারি। :C ঈমানে কইছি ভাই আমি কাউকে দেই নাই কেউ আমাকে দেয় নাই।

বনলতা সবাই খুব খ্রাপ। দেখেন না কেমন কেমন করছে। আপনি ভালু ।তাই ভাল বুঝতেছেন।
